Updates

For those of you who regularly read this - sorry about not posting anything lately! It’s not that I haven’t been thinking about anything, but rather I have not had any time to sit down and actually compile any related thoughts. So, just in case you were wondering the latest in my life here you go. I don’t usually like to focus totally on me because, well, you know, who am I anyway that you should spend so much time thinking about me? (if I knew how to put a smiley face here I would! lol).

1. Tim and my brother Dan did do the 70 mile canoe regatta last Monday. They came in 5th in their class and even received a trophy for it. As one of the “pit crew” I enjoyed supporting them and watching their achievement.

2. Miriam and Ryan marched in the Oneonta Community Christian School part of the Oneonta Memorial Day parade. Again, I enjoyed watching them as Ryan held the banner the entire route and Miriam participated in the choreographed marching.

3. Miriam’s friend birthday party was tonight. She’s growing up - ahhh!! Next Thursday she turns 10. I am DEFINATELY not old enough to have a 10 year old (again, pretend I inserted a smiley face).

4. We are gearing up for the Children’s Musical and Awana closing program which will happen next Wednesday night. Although I am looking forward to the evening, I must admit that it will be a relief when it is all over.

5. Nursery School Graduation is a week from Wednesday, June 13. I can’t believe one year has gone by! I have enjoyed most parts of it and am sad to know that some of these kids I will probably never see again. I plan on teaching next year, however 14 of our 19 children are going to Kindergarten next year, so we need quite a few children to enter the program in order to even run a Nursery School! That’s a pretty big prayer request right now.

6. I have completed my first “practice” Superdoc seminar - yea!! For the last 5 weeks I have taught chapel for the elementary grades at OCCS. I need to complete 2 “training” seminars. Last Sunday I began teaching the children’s sunday school at our church. I will continue that through the month of June. Then that task will be completed. I love teaching, and I enjoy watching the “light go on” for kids, so, although this takes up time, it is a great ministry.

7. Tuesday I went out (after 2 days of not going out back) and discovered that there were NO plants in the garden at all. It was pretty discouraging. When I asked Tim when we give up this venture his comment was, “I just paddled a 70 mile race. I’m not the one to ask about giving up on something”. So, he took me to the store where we bought a few more plants, some spray to keep insects away, some spray to keep groundhog and deer away… Thursday we had time to work on the garden. Tim was great and reinforced the fence all the way around, I planted our plants and discovered that whatever it was that ate the first plants hadn’t gotten the seeded plants because they hadn’t emerged yet! So, I now have a beautiful garden again - we’ll see how long it lasts (insert smiley).

8. I found out today that I was accepted into Northeastern Seminary’s Master of Arts in Theology program. This seminary, located in Rochester, is one of the few evangelical ones in the area that accepts women. So, if the Lord continues to lead in this direction, I will be traveling up to Rochester every Thursday night next year. Since college I have wanted to get my masters, and it seems as if the Lord’s timing is now. Although this is something I really want to do, God knows my time restraints, abilities and my future. I continue to pray that if He does not want me to pursue this path that He will close the doors.

Thank you for praying for me! Sorry this isn’t “deep” - but just wanted to let you know I am still alive, just not very thought-cohesive this week!

I wish I had read this before now (Sunday night) so I could have said a big “Congratulations!!” in church today! I think it’s so exciting that you will be working on your Master’s. I just love the way you are always up for a new adventure. My little nephew is in Rochester, so maybe I can come along some Thursday night to keep you company and pop in for a baby visit!

Chriss, I would LOVE to have you come with me any time you want to - the company would be appreciated!
